Coming a long way from an impoverished childhood in Ethiopia, Dr. Tessema is the youngest of 12 children born to a subsistence farmer. He began studying dentistry after a 13-year career as an architect in Ethiopia and the United States, to which he immigrated in 2006. Ten years later, in 2016, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
Among his professional dental affiliations, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, and the Baltimore City Dental Society. He looks forward to taking part in worldwide missions, using his skills and expertise to improve the lives of others, including in his native land of Africa.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens.
