Recognized as a skilled optometrist, Dr. Marvin is the Medical Director at STL Eco Eyecare in St. Louis, Missouri. She has a passion for giving back to the community, providing world class eyecare, and the right prescription to see the world much clearer.

STL Eco Eyecare opened their doors in November of 2020, with their website launching a month later. Sustainability and providing great eyecare are the driving forces behind everything they do, and they are proud to be one of the only eco-friendly businesses in the local community. Not only have they built their clinic from the ground up out of sustainable materials, but they have also taken sustainability one step further by developing their very own brand of biodegradable glasses frames. Their eye care clinic is kitted out with the latest technology to perform comprehensive eye exams in Brentwood for adults and children, and where possible, their services are completely personalized to meet individual needs. They know budgeting for healthcare can be hard, which is why they have gone to great lengths to ensure that they have made the best quality eye care accessible to people from all walks of life. Dr. Marvin is especially thrilled to offer a myopia management program, which aims to stop the myopia (nearsightedness) epidemic with the only FDA-approved treatment to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children. She is one of the few physicians in the area to offer this new and exciting treatment program.

A St. Louis native, Dr. Marvin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry in 2016.

Specializing in primary care and contact lens fittings, Dr. Marvin is board-certified in optometry by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO). The mission of the NBEO is to serve the public and the profession of optometry by developing, administering, scoring, and reporting results of valid examinations that assess competence.

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.
