Dr. Odia is the Chief of Neuro-Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) part of Baptist Health South Florida. She also serves on the Scientific Review Committee at MCI and the Medical Executive Committee at Baptist Hospital.

She further rounds out the Institute’s highly specialized and comprehensive brain tumor program, providing the southern two-thirds of the state, Latin America, and the Caribbean access to expert neuro-oncology care. She also collaborates with clinical experts across the organization to provide treatment to patients with malignant and benign tumors of the nervous system, including primary and metastatic brain and spine cancers. She conducts local, regional, and national clinical trials that hopefully bring significant advances in neuro-oncology cancer care to patients in South Florida, the Caribbean, and beyond.

Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, she was an assistant professor of neurology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

A Chicago Honor Scholar, Dr. Odia received her Bachelor of Arts degree and medical degree from the University of Chicago. She received a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. A Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), Dr. Odia serves as Chair of the Diversity Leadership Subcommittee and member of the Leadership Development Committee, Health Care Disparities Task Force, Spanish Language Work Group, and Undergraduate Education Subcommittee. She is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society for Neuro-Oncology.

McKhann Award for Teaching and Communication Excellence. Neuro-oncology is the study of brain and spinal cord neoplasms, many of which are very dangerous and life-threatening. Among the malignant brain cancers, gliomas of the brainstem and pons, glioblastoma multiforme, and high-grade astrocytoma are among the worst. Neuro-oncologists are neurologists who specialize in diagnosing and treating brain and nervous system cancers and administering chemotherapy to patients.

On a more personal note, Dr. Odia speaks both English and Spanish.
