I've been suffering from scoliosis since I was 19 years. I am now 32 years old. Will this problem be corrected with surgery?
If it's greater than 32 degrees, then surgery will be important, but if not, no surgery is required. Yes, surgery can correct scoliosis, but there is a price for the surgery itself plus physical disabilities you'll have for the rest of your life. Rods will prevent motion in the spine. READ MORE
I have undergone about 5 X-rays in the last 2 months for my spinal problem. Are there any risks?
I'm not sure what you are asking. If you're asking if you will receive damage to your spine from X-rays, that would be a no. The radiation exposure is low and presents no risk. CT scans however expose a lot of radiation. READ MORE

Experiencing numbness and pain after elbow fracture treatment. Why is this happening?
Hi, The reason you are experiencing numbness and pain after surgery could be a couple things: 1: During surgery they could have damaged the nerve. Typically with surgery that's always a risk. Also when you have surgery your body builds up scar tissue which is the body's way of seeking to heal but in doing so, it heals wrong. Scar tissue can cause a lot of pain post surgery. Doing soft tissue therapy once your fracture heals is vital to get rid of the scar tissue. 2. You are experiencing numbness and pain because with a severe fracture you could easily damage the nerve causing that to occur. I don't know how severe your fracture is because you didn't give any details. If it's a compound fracture you can easily damage the nerves. Bottom line is the symptoms will get better with time if you allow it to heal. Make sure you do plenty of Physical Therapy once healed so you don't experience muscle atrophy and begin the nerve and muscle healing. Muscle atrophy is a serious issue because you won't get that muscle back. Muscle atrophy is when the muscle cells fade away and are lost forever. Dr. Quentin Smith Chiropractic Physician READ MORE
Back exercises after adjustments?
You can do bridges and planks to help strengthen the core. Any exercises to help strengthen the core will help the back pain. Pelvic tilts, and any other stabilization exercises. Do not do any hard core Power workouts using your back quite yet till you are recovered. Also depends on what's causing your back pain. Is there a time you could meet at my clinic to see? Thanks Dr Quentin Smith READ MORE
