Dr. Dovichi, an energetic Midwesterner and mother of four boys, is a board-certified pediatrician who joined Fairport Pediatrics in 2004.
Fairport Pediatrics has provided the highest quality of health care to Fairport, New York since 1980. The team of professionals working there are committed to improving each child’s health from that special moment of birth through the college years and into young adulthood. They provide anticipatory guidance along the way and support each child through a spectrum of illness, all the while building relationships based on open communication, mutual trust, and respect.
Professionally, Dr. Dovichi is also associated with Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, and Rochester General Hospital. Originally from the Green Bay area in Wisconsin, she earned her undergraduate degree in 1996 and her medical degree in 2000, both from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She then went on to complete her residency in pediatrics at the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong, where she served as chief resident.
For all her success in medicine, she never abandoned her long standing desire to become a teacher. She has taught younger members of her profession since the early days of her medical career when she received the Outstanding Teaching Award during her residency. Today, she serves as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she enjoys teaching medical students and precepting pediatric residents.
As a leader in her field, Dr. Dovici’s practice is one based on communication and education and she strives to make a personal connection with each and every one of her young patients. This personalized approach and deep connection with her community has earned her recognition in the form of a Patients’ Choice Award and a Compassionate Doctor Award as voted on by her patients and their families.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Founded in 1933, the ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certification is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. As a pediatrician, Dr. Dovichi examines, diagnoses, and treats children of all ages with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. She understands that children change rapidly and they must be approached with an appreciation for their stage of physical and mental development. “I focus on utilizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle. I provide counseling to my patients to ensure good health. I focus on health being a result of lifestyle choices that include nutrition, active play, emotional awareness, and restorative sleep.” she stated.
After enjoying Rochester city living for 10 years, Dr. Dovichi now resides in Lima with her husband, sons, dog, and their backyard chickens. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family.
