Being an established allergist and immunologist, Dr. Oyefara specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma as well as other allergic and immunologic diseases. He is the President & Medical Director of Asthma & Allergy Center in Monroe, Louisiana.

The mission of his practice is to provide high quality, state-of-the-art, and compassionate care to adults and children with asthma, allergic diseases, as well as immunologic disorders. To do so, he and his staff utilize most up to date, scientifically-proven techniques and therapies to diagnose and treat patients and they strive to provide this care in a very friendly environment.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Oyefara serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and as an Attending Physician in the Section of Allergy and Immunology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.

To help advance his career, he remains a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Louisiana Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and  the Ouachita Parish Medical Society. He also maintains fellowship status with the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (FACAAI) and the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI). 

Back in 1979, Dr. Oyefara earned his medical degree from Obafemi Awolowo University – College of Health Sciences in Ile Ife, Nigeria. He did a residency in pediatrics at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. from 1987 to 1990. Thereafter, from 1990 to 1992, he undertook a fellowship in allergy and immunology (adult and children) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. 

After completing that training, he was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to undertake a research fellowship in allergy and immunology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia between 1992 and 1994. In August of 1994, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Allergy and Immunology) at the University of Pennsylvania.

Throughout his training and during his tenure at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Oyefara received numerous professional Awards of Excellence. He has also published many articles in peer-reviewed professional journals and has received numerous awards for his clinical expertise. In 2018, he received the Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award for twenty years of service by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAAI).

Committed to his specialty with over three decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, which establishes qualifications and examines physicians to become recognized specialists in allergy and immunology. It is a conjoint board of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.
