Dr. Holloway stands out as a distinguished figure in Gynecologic Oncology internationally, bringing both expertise and leadership to the medical community in Orlando. As a board-certified Gynecologic Oncologist and the Medical Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Program at the AdventHealth Cancer Institute, he has played a pivotal role in advancing healthcare for women with complex gynecologic illnesses. AdventHealth’s Gynecologic Oncology Program is one of the largest clinical and research services in the Southeast US, supporting a three-year gynecologic oncology training program for graduate OB/GYN physicians.
With a broad educational background beginning at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, he embarked on his medical academic journey at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, a prestigious institution known for producing top-tier medical professionals. He further refined his skills through his OB/GYN residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Lombardi Cancer Institute, Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Holloway is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). In 2015 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Science degree from Pleven Medical University for his efforts over several years assisting the development of a robotic surgery training program in Bulgaria. He has lectured extensively in Europe, Asia, and South America and demonstrated live surgical techniques in many countries.
Among his notable research interests, Dr Holloway focuses on robotic surgery and novel therapies for gynecologic cancers. His expertise in robotic surgery is recognized globally, with surgeons from around the world having attended his advanced training programs. Considered a leader in the integration of innovative surgical techniques, he has validated several procedures using the daVinci robotic surgical platform including infrarenal lymphadenectomy and sentinel lymph node mapping for uterine malignancies. Dr Holloway’s other interests included clinical trial development in medical oncology. Pivotal in the development of oncolytic viral therapy for treatment resistant ovarian cancer, he currently serves as national principal investigator for the phase III OnPrime clinical trial, the first oncolytic viral phase 3 trial in gynecologic oncology. His CV contains over 250 scientific abstracts, book chapters, and peer-reviewed publications.
On a professional level, he is a Founding Member of the Florida Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the Society for Robotic Surgery. He is a longstanding member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and a previous member of the Board of Directors. His election into AGOS (American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society) is a testament to his esteemed reputation among his peers nationally as an educator, clinician, and scientific investigator.
