Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Tamir Mosharrafa, who serves the Phoenix, Arizona area at his private practice, Mosharrafa Plastic Surgery and at several local hospitals. After earning his undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Texas in Austin, Dr. Mosharrafa decided to continue his education to pursue a career in medicine by attending Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Mosharrafa completed residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, then undertook a fellowship there in hand surgery. He has been board certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Throughout his career he has also held a clinical faculty position, teaching the science and art of plastic surgery to residents. He is routinely asked to review articles submitted to The Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Journal as a subject matter expert and has published his own research in similarly prestigious journals. With nearly fifteen years of experience in the field of plastic surgery, Dr. Mosharrafa is additionally on staff at area hospitals, including Abrazo Central Campus and Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. To stay current in his field, Dr. Mosharrafa continues to learn as the science and art of plastic surgery changes with updates to technology and new information. Additionally, he has been awarded throughout his career with the Top Doctor Award from Phoenix Magazine. Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature. Dr. Mosharrafa believes in giving back to the Phoenix community and has been recognized for his community service working with The Phoenix Dream Center and Phoenix Police Department. When Dr. Mosharrafa is not seeing patients or volunteering, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and ice hockey.
