Dr. Rosemurgy II is an advanced foregut & HPB surgeon at AdventHealth Digestive Health Institute Tampa. He specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery to treat conditions of the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, pancreas, gallbladder and liver. 

Among his other positions, he is Co-Director of the Advanced GI and HPB Surgery Fellowship at the Digestive Health Institute, which trains new surgeons to master minimally invasive complex surgery. He also serves as a Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

A 1979 graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Rosemurgy II went on to perform his residency in surgery at the University of Chicago from 1979 until 1984.

With extensive experience in a number of surgical procedures, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Having been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1982, Dr. Rosemurgy II is also an active member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Throughout his extensive line of work, he has published more than 300 articles in clinical and scientific journals. 

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
