A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Peloza is affiliated with The Steadman Clinic, seeing patients at their offices in Vail, Colorado. He has been on the forefront of the advancement of spine surgery research and techniques for decades, providing his patients with proven, predictable surgical outcomes. He specializes in complex neck & lumbar spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, and disc replacement surgery.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Peloza attended the United States Air Force Academy with a focus in Civil Engineering, and later graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
At the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, he completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopedic surgery. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine and knee surgery under the direction of Dr. J. Richard Steadman, followed by an International Spine Fellowship directed by Dallas Spine Group founder Dr. David Selby.
Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
A pioneer in minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Peloza has helped launch several minimally invasive technologies such as the Serengeti® Minimally Invasive Retractor System, and the RAVINE™ Lateral Access System and serves as an investigator on many nationwide clinical research trials regarding the spine.
Throughout his illustrious career, he has authored numerous scientific papers and book chapters, and is regularly asked to present at national and international spine, orthopedic, and neurosurgical society meetings. He has also participated in multiple FDA and clinical trials for new technology including stem cells, bone graft substitute, disc replacements and other motion devices for the spine.
Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Peloza has been named to Becker's Orthopedic & Spine Review’s “50 of the Best Spine Specialists in America” and has been awarded with Becker’s Healthcare Spine Leadership Award. He is also part of the design team that won an Orthopedics This Week Spine Technology Award and Medical Design Excellence Award for the Serengeti Minimally Invasive Retractor System.
Moreover, he has been selected as a “Best Doctors In America” every year since 2001, a “Top Surgeon” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America each year, one of the “50 Best Spine Specialists in America,” a Texas “Super Doctor”, and has consistently been voted as one of the “Best Doctors in Dallas” and “Best Doctors in Collin County” by D Magazine every year since 2003.
