A board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Ortega-Legaspi is affiliated with the Penn Heart and Vascular Center, working with patients in Philadelphia and Radnor, Pennsylvania.

The team of physicians at Penn Medicine's Heart and Vascular Center are dedicated to getting patients back to the life they want to live. An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Additionally, Dr Ortega-Legaspi has focused part of his practice to seeing patients with end stage congenital heart disease who need advanced heart failure therapies (heart transplantation or mechanical circulatory support). He collaborates closely with specialists in adult congenital heart disease as well as pediatric cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
