In addition to her position with Foot & Ankle Specialists of New Jersey, Dr. Patel is also on staff at Overlook Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson Hospital-Rahway, and the Center for Ambulatory Surgery.
Being an outstanding student, Dr. Patel earned her bachelor’s degree from New York University, and her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating at the top of her class. She won a number of awards, including the ABMPS Diabetic Wound Care Award. Thereafter, she went on to serve her residency at the Morristown Memorial Hospital where performed over 1500 foot and ankle surgeries and completed rotations in virtually every department from pathology to internal medicine.
In her third year, Dr. Patel became the Chief Resident of Podiatric Surgery, where she managed a team of five residents, organizing all their daily schedules, including surgical cases and call day assignments. In addition to all her duties as Chief Resident, she also managed to fit in research projects. Her research, which primarily focused on diabetic foot wounds and surgical procedures for bunions, culminated in two posters and the co-authoring of an article in the medical journal, Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
Research is an ongoing passion of hers, and she is actively involved in authoring articles for upcoming journal editions.
A Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS), she is certified foot surgery & reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). The ABFAS strives to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by advancing the art and science of foot and ankle surgery.
