Dr. Swiggard attended George Mason University as a Chemistry major, before taking on a part-time job at the National Institutes of Health as a lab technician. From there, she enrolled in a 9-year MD/PhD program, earning her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Immunology at Rockefeller University. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in infectious disease at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
As a testament of her continued education, the doctor is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
In her professional experience, she served as an attending infectious disease physician at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Holyoke Health Center, before joining the team at Mazzoni Center.
