About

Dr. Michael Cherre practices Orthodontics in Ballwin, MO. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment includes metal wires that are inserted into orthodontic brackets, which can be made from stainless steel or a more aesthetic ceramic material. The wires interact with the brackets to move teeth into desired positions. Being advanced in the field, Dr. Cherre may also use Invisalign or other aligner trays that have been designed to align a patients? smile. As an orthodontist, Dr. Cherre must recognize various characteristics of a malocclusion or dentofacial deformity, define the nature of the problem, including the etiology if possible, and design a treatment strategy based on the specific needs and desires of the patient.

  • I am due for an extraction tomorrow and I am worried. Please help.

I am assuming you are getting braces on all of your upper teeth, not just 2 front teeth.  Often in adults with overbites, the orthodontist will recommend extracting 2 premolars to allow the front 6 teeth to be straightened and retracted to improve alignment and overbite.  If this sounds similar to your situation, it sounds right.  Of course, I don't have access to your diagnostic records. • Can I get braces for my upper teeth only?

It depends. If your top teeth can be straightened to match the lower teeth and not change your bite, you should be okay. But since the top and bottom teeth need to match up or occlude in a certain way, it may help to have braces on the lower teeth also. Talk with the orthodontist and see what your options are. I tell my patients that I work for them, as long as they understand the limitations of single arch treatment, and the benefits of comprehensive treatment.   READ MORE

  • I am diabetic and have to undergo an orthodontic treatment. Will my diabetes affect my healing process?

If your diabetes is undercontrol, it shouldn't affect your orthodontic treatment.   READ MORE
