Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Dania S. Assad, who serves patients in Novi, Michigan.

Dr. Assad is a well-known endocrinologist in practice with Ascension Providence Hospital Providence IM Diabetes Endocrinology in Novi, Michigan. She has a special interest in treating patients with various endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, hormonal imbalances, and osteoporosis. Likewise, she works well with her patients and includes them in their healthcare decision-making process to reach the ultimate goal of leading healthier lives.

Back in 2012, Dr. Assad graduated with her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Jordan. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Ascension Providence Hospital, followed by her fellowship at Wayne State University.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine & endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

In affiliation with Ascension, Dr. Assad can be found on staff at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus & Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield Campus.

Endocrinology is a branch of medicine dealing with the Endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormonal imbalances, deficiencies, or over secretion of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the Endocrine system that Endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, adrenal, pituitary, bone disorders, reproductive disorders, weight disorders, cholesterol problems, polycystic ovary syndrome, and thyroid issues, among others. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Assad enjoys being around her family, as well as playing basketball and reading. She speaks both English and Arabic.
