What causes chronic back pain?
Chiropractic is and has been shown in scientific trials after trials to be more effective in the treatment of chronic lower back pain than any other profession. It has also proven to be the most cost-effective. To treat chronic pain you have to address the cause directly. Covering up the symptoms with medication is not correcting the cause and the situation will continue to worsen over time until the last resort of hope for relief is surgery. READ MORE
What could be the cause for Upper back pain?
In chiropractic we routinely find the cause of your condition to be thoracic anterior (forward) displaced vertebrae. There are many symptoms associated with this: chest pain, rib cage pain, sharp pain when cough or sneeze, difficulty taking a deep breath and some even develop chronic indigestion. In the thoracic spine the ribs have two articulations (attachments) to the vertebrae. One to the transverse process and one to the body of the vertebrae. When the vertebral body displaces forward these articulations become fixated and normal motion is limited resulting in muscle pain, tension and nerve irritation. If it goes untreated it can eventually radiate to the lower neck and back. Chiropractic is the only profession that recognizes and has an effective treatment for this situation. Also, if the doctor does not recommend x-rays to rule out any underlying pathologies insist on them or find another doctor. Ask friends if they see a chiropractor. That is usually the best referral source. Yours in health. READ MORE
Is chiropractic good for chronic neck pain?
Yes. Chiropractors have had great success treating chronic neck pain because they look for the cause of the pain. Correct the cause relieve the pain. Most spinal conditions develop over a long period of time and can be linked to bad posture or a long forgotten injury. Remember, pain is the end result of a condition that has progressed and is the first to stop which does not mean the problem is corrected. We have all been condition for years that no pain no problem. WRONG! READ MORE
Does your body release toxins after chiropractor?
Yes it does. Loss of normal joint motion equates to increased muscle and ligament tension, decreased nerve impulse and blood flow. A spinal adjustment changes all of those parameters. Therefore, built up toxins, mainly lactic acid is released into the blood stream. Symptoms of this can be sore muscles, fatigue and flu like symptoms. Drink several glasses of water after your adjustments to help remove the toxins. READ MORE
How do you get out of bed with a slipped disc?
Roll on your side with knees bent. Push up into a sitting position and when there support yourself with your arms until the spasms begin to subside. Use a cane or chair to support you while standing and slowly come to an upright position. FYI, if you were advised to use a heating pad it will have a negative affect. An inflamed disc is just that, hot and swollen. Ice packs covered with a towel and applied 15 minutes 3-4 times a day will be more helpful. You wouldn't put heat on a sprained ankle so why an injured back. Hot Epsom salt baths or hot shower will help relieve soreness and relax muscles because it is diffuse heat and not direct like a pad. Are you born with scoliosis or do you develop it?

Medical question?
If the pain is in the upper back between the shoulder blades, that increases upon deep breathing, sharp with cough or sneeze, and can sometimes radiate to the chest. It is most likely anterior displaced vertebra in the spine. Anterior means they have displaced forward. The ribs attach to them at two different articulations on both sides of the spine. When this happens, the rib heads become bound and cannot move freely, especially when breathing. The intercostal nerves that course between the ribs also become irritated. If I have described your problem, it is an easy fix for a chiropractor. Yours in health, Doc J READ MORE

I have had wrist pain for quite some time already?
There are 8 carpal bones in the wrist. The lunate, which is in the first row center, creates the majority of motion in the wrist and helps form the carpal tunnel. This bone is probably displaced and can easily be repositioned by a chiropractic adjustment. Yours in health, Doc J READ MORE
What are the symptoms of a misaligned pelvis?
Stand in front of a full-length mirror in your skivvies, relaxed with equal weight on both feet. Look and see if one side of the pelvis is higher than the other, if your head is tilted to one side, and if one shoulder is higher than the other. If you find one hip higher than the other with one or more of the other two, bingo. Also, you can lay face down and have someone check your leg length. If one is shorter, that is another positive finding. A misaligned pelvis can cause spinal curvature, lower back pain, and leg pain. Yours in health, Doc J READ MORE
