Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Ravi Kant, who serves patients in Anderson, South Carolina.

Attributing his success to having great mentors and a supportive family, Dr. Kant is a board-certified endocrinologist with AnMed Health Endocrinology in Anderson, South Carolina.

The endocrinologists at AnMed Health are recognized as hormone and endocrine system detectives. Experts in their field, they can detect hormonal imbalances and diseases related to the glands. Some of the most common conditions that they manage and treat include menopause, diabetes, pituitary and growth disorders, metabolic/weight management issues, osteoporosis, and thyroid disease.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Kant has worked as an Affiliate Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina since 2014. In 2019, he was named Preceptor of the Year.

While he was in middle school, his father became ill with a tumor. The surgery that he had to undergo was very difficult, and it was not certain that he would pull through. After seeing firsthand how his father was treated and how a physician could help an entire family, Dr. Kant decided to pursue a career in medicine.

After earning his medical degree from the Delhi University College of Medical Sciences in India, he relocated to the United States. There, he completed his residency at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by his fellowship training in geriatric medicine and endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at the University of Maryland. 

Following his education, the doctor became board-certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Among his various achievements, Dr. Kant has published multiple research papers in professional journals, including Proteinuria in the elderly: evaluation and management, and Invasive pheochromocytoma presenting as a right atrial mass. Over the course of his career as a medical professional, he has received both a Best Resident Award and a Best Fellow Award. 

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
