Period concerns and birth control?
Some doctors and prescription companies recommend that you can skip your placebo pills for 3 months. It means that your bleeding will be much heavier because the lining of the uterus becomes much thicker when there is no bleeding on a monthly basis. If you continue to have bleeding for more than 7 days, then you will want to schedule a visit with the gyn doctor. You may be prescribed hormone therapy, like progesterone only pills, to stop the bleeding. Even though this is a general recommendation in gynecology, it may be worth considering that going 3 months without a period is too disruptive for your body. General recommendations are fine, but You are unique and you have unique needs. Blessings! READ MORE

Her practice, Michigan Center for Holistic Medicine, is centered around wellness medicine with an emphasis on age management. It has grown from just one location in Lansing to now serving the communities of Grand Rapids, Traverse City and Frankfort, alongside a team of like-minded practitioners.
Using Osteopathic Manual Medicine to realign the body, Dr. McSwain has a keen understanding of how the body’s systems are interconnected and how each one affects the others, promoting healing and increasing overall mobility. Furthering her education, she received training from the Institute for Functional Medicine as well as the American Association of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Through her lived experiences, Dr. McSwain found a passion for providing holistic healthcare after watching her mother struggle for years with various comorbidities, which were overlooked by the mainstream healthcare system. While she was unable to receive the healing she deserved, her mother passed away due to her illnesses at the age of 50.
Now, in her own practice, Dr. McSwain’s ultimate goal is to help her patients discover life-long health, and provide an individualized pathway to wellness by treating the root cause of illness. In the future, she hopes to continue to grow her practice to provide access to better health for all Michiganders.
