Get to know Family Practitioner Dr. Melinda Lee Sutton, who serves patients throughout the State of Maryland.

A trusted family practitioner, Dr. Sutton is affiliated with Patient First, working with patients in the Waldorf and Clinton areas. 

Since opening their first medical center in 1981, Patient First’s vision remains the same: making access to quality medical care as convenient and cost-effective as possible. To achieve this objective, they have adopted and continue to embrace many innovative operating systems and practices.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Sutton graduated with her medical degree from the Meharry Medical College in 1998, and completed multiple residencies in family medicine at the University of Alabama Hospital, Duke University Hospital, and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

A proud member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
