Dr. Baldwin received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1985; completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center; a residency in plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in 1988; and a microvascular research fellowship with the Department of Plastic Surgery in 1991.

Dr. Baldwin maintains a membership with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The ASPS is dedicated to advance quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery.
