A highly sought after double board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Schapiro specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and wrist. He also has extensive experience in total joint replacement surgeries of the knee, hip, and shoulder as well as complex ligament reconstruction.

Dr. Schapiro provides exceptional orthopedic care as the Chair of Orthopedic Surgery at ACME Spine & Orthopedics.  He has been appointed to the medical staff in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Broward Health Coral Springs and Florida Medical Center.  He provides outpatient orthopedic care at Park Creek Surgery Center in Coconut Creek, Ambulatory Surgery Center of Boca Raton, SurgiPoint Surgery Center in Hollywood, University Surgery Center in Winter Park, Advanced Ambulatory Surgery Center in Altamonte Springs, and The Surgery Center of Winter Park.

With extensive training in orthopedic traumatology and management of extremity trauma and fractures, Dr. Schapiro utilizes advanced cartilage and joint preserving techniques and minimally invasive procedures to get his patients back to their active lifestyles.

When he is not in surgery or with patients, he spends his time educating medical students and residents as an Associate Clinical Professor at Nova Southeastern University.

Born and raised in South Florida, Dr. Schapiro received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in 1994 where he graduated with distinction on the President’s Honor Roll for having a perfect 4.0-grade point average. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2000 where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He was also a member of the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Medical Honor Society and the Golden Key National Honor Society. 

Furthering his training, Dr. Schapiro completed his orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Health Systems, a Level I Trauma Center, in Detroit in 2005. As a resident, he was awarded the Robert H. Frost, M.D. Memorial Award for Outstanding Research.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), Dr. Schapiro is double board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine) and the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.
