Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Jacqueline M. Walters, who serves patients throughout the State of Georgia.
Philanthropist, health expert, women’s advocate, tv personality and award-winning obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Jacqueline Walters (affectionately known as “Dr. Jackie”) is on a mission to impact the lives of millions.
A household name in the Atlanta area and professionally renowned nationwide, she is the Medical Director of Comprehensive Women’s OB/GYN, with offices in Duluth and Dunwoody. She is known for her patient-centered approach and dedication to meeting the needs of the women she treats.
A native of Port Gibson, Mississippi, Dr. Jackie recognized long ago that the field of obstetrics and gynecology paid too little mind to the needs of the women being treated. Consequently, she switched her care model from a “physical-focused practice” to a “patient-focused practice,” and has established herself as one of the “creme de la creme” OB/GYNs of the Atlanta community.
Always willing to work hard, she earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Mississippi and Alcorn State University. She then finished her medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, and went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
After residency, Dr. Jackie started in private practice where she became affiliated with Northside Hospital in Atlanta. She has remained in private practice for over two decades and maintains a high-profile clientele that includes the Braxton’s, Eva Marcille Sterling, and superstar Kandi Burruss.
As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Dr. Jackie has a firsthand understanding of the importance of women’s health. She is always eager to discuss any health concerns or problems with her patients, knowing that open communication enhances not only the care a patient receives but also the doctor/patient relationship.
Her mastery of various procedures and use of traditional and cutting-edge medicine, along with her compassionate and vibrant spirit, allow her to serve a diverse and loyal clientele who trust her intellect and inventiveness when it comes to their medical needs.
Focusing on the mind, body, and spirit in her treatment approach, Dr. Jackie has implemented a Women’s Wellness Program and a “Fit Is the New It” initiative to promote healthy living and awareness of heart disease among women. She is also the Founder of the 50 Shades of Pink Foundation, an organization that aims to treat the inner and outer beauty of survivors through annual fundraising events and the sponsorship of various health initiatives and family workshops.
In 2013, Dr. Jackie burst onto the small screen as one of the stars of Bravo’s hit reality series “Married to Medicine,” where the esteemed practitioner has earned legions of fans for her distinct style, sense of reason, sincere compassion, and unrivaled elegance. She has proven to be an important influence on the show, using the platform to display a positive and successful image while raising awareness on important health issues. She is using that influence to champion self-love and empowerment as an ambassador of ME Period, a movement that inspires women to see the greatness in themselves.
To boot, she has been featured on various media outlets such as HLN, the “STEVE” talk show, ESSENCE, Glamour, People.com, BlackEnterprise.com, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Rolling Out, and frequently speaks around the country on women’s health, wellness, and self-esteem.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
Happily married, Dr. Jackie resides in Atlanta with her husband, Curtis.
