Why does my eyesight get worse every year?
It is common for people that spend more than half their waking hours on close work, phone apps, and computer screens to have the optical system increase the nearsightedness. This blurs distance vision periodically, and can only be remedied by stronger lenses. There is a hereditary component to this as well. Look up often, get an hour of outside activity a day, and avoid positioning your close work in front of a wall. Robert C. Layman, O.D. READ MORE
Why is my vision blurry only sometimes?
Intermittent vision disruption is almost always due to dry eye. Try artificial tears, or have a comprehensive eye exam to determine best therapy. Robert C. Layman, O.D. READ MORE

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.
Providing excellent eye care to help patients see their best, look their best, and feel their best, Dr. Layman is the recipient of the 2006 American Optometric Association “Optometrist of the Year Award.” The Ohio Optometric Association honored him with its Outstanding Senior Student Award in 1982, its Young Optometrist of the Year Award in 1987, and its Optometrist of the Year Award in 2005.
