Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Laurie Ballew, who serves patients in Paducah, Kentucky.

A board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Ballew stands as a beacon of expertise and compassion in the field of psychiatry. With a distinguished career spanning decades, she extends her compassionate care to patients aged 18 and above. Armed with specialized training in Adult ADHD, Geriatric Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine, she approaches each patient with a holistic perspective, recognizing the interconnectedness of emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being.

Back in the early days of her academic career, she earned her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Louisville, honing her skills in psychiatry. Following her rigorous training, she dedicated two fruitful decades to serving as faculty in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences department at her alma mater, the University of Louisville.

An authority in her field, she is board-certified in psychosomatic medicine, addiction medicine, and psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). 

Holding membership status, Dr. Ballew remains actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, and the Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association.

As for her academic appointment, Dr. Ballew holds the esteemed position of Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Louisville. Additionally, she serves as Community Faculty for the Western Kentucky Initiative at the University of Kentucky, further cementing her commitment to education and mentorship in her field.

Remaining tied to her hometown of Paducah, she assumed the role of Medical Director of Inpatient and Outpatient psychiatry at Lourdes-Mercy Hospital, bringing her wealth of experience and expertise to benefit her community directly.

Driven by a desire to offer personalized care and foster holistic well-being, Dr. Ballew embarked on a new chapter in 2019, realizing her dream of establishing a private practice, Holistic Psychiatry & Healthcare. Located in Paducah, her practice serves as a sanctuary for individuals seeking comprehensive psychiatric care tailored to their unique needs.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders.
