Born and raised in Egypt, she earned her medical degree from the Cairo University School of Medicine in 1970. After relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in psychiatry at the University of Maryland in 1979.

With an unwavering commitment to her specialty, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
