Get to know Periodontist Dr. Robert M. Pick, who serves patients throughout the State of Illinois.

A board-certified periodontist, Dr. Pick is committed to delivering the highest quality dental and periodontal care to his patients at Progressive Periodontics & Implants. His approach combines cutting-edge techniques, state-of-the-art equipment, collaborative team planning, education, and a highly specialized and trained staff.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Northwestern University Dental School in 1980. Subsequently, he completed his Certificate of Residency in Periodontics in 1982, further deepening his expertise in the field. Simultaneously, he pursued his passion for research and education, attaining a Master of Science Degree from Northwestern University Dental School in the same year.

Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Pick is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists (FACD), and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (FICD). His commitment to excellence extends beyond the confines of his clinic, as he also serves as a member of the attending staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School.

Beyond his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Pick is a charismatic and sought-after lecturer. His expertise extends to a wide array of topics, including practice management and motivation, the impact of the internet on dentistry, and periodontics and implant dentistry. He has generously shared his knowledge and insights through numerous published articles in scientific literature, contributions to dental texts like “Lasers in Dentistry,” and live presentations at esteemed dental conferences and meetings.

Periodontics is the dental specialty focusing exclusively on the inflammatory disease that destroys the gums and other supporting structures around the teeth. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Pick was recognized as one of the top Leaders in Continuing Education by Dentistry Today. He was also honored with the Gordon J. Christensen Outstanding Lecturer Recognition Award in 1998.

On a more personal level, he is a commercially rated pilot, an avid guitar player, and indulges his passion for classic cars, collecting Classic Corvettes.
