Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Sharon R. Band, who serves patients in Richmond, Virginia.

Recognized as a caring and compassionate pediatrician, Dr. Band tends to patients at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond in Virginia.

Educated in the United States, she received her medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2000. In order to further her training, she completed a residency in pediatrics at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2003.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Happily married, Dr. Band and her husband have triplet daughters and two dogs. In her leisure time, she enjoys participating in the church choir, Make a Wish foundation and other church activities. She also loves to kayak.
