About

Jonathan Kost, MD, is a highly respected interventional pain medicine specialist known for his expertise, innovation, and compassionate approach to patient care. As the Founder and Medical Director of the Spine and Pain Institute at MidState Medical Center and Founder of the Hartford Hospital Pain Treatment Center, he has dedicated his career to improving the lives of those suffering from chronic pain.

With over 30 years of experience in interventional and multidisciplinary pain management, Dr. Kost is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He completed his interventional pain medicine fellowship at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and his anesthesiology residency at Beth Israel/Mount Sinai Hospitals in New York City.

His expertise extends beyond clinical practice; he actively contributes to Connecticut’s Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Department of Consumer Protection’s state medical advisory boards. He also serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at both the UConn School of Medicine and the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine. Additionally, he has played a key leadership role in Hartford HealthCare’s Neuroscience Division for Opioid and Pain Councils and is a co-founder and past president of the Connecticut Pain Society.

Beyond his clinical and academic contributions, Dr. Kost is the visionary founder of Digital360Health, a groundbreaking medical software company that enhances patient-provider and provider-provider communication, interprets pharmacogenetic testing for drug metabolism and interactions, and transforms patient data collection to improve healthcare outcomes.

Dr. Kost is particularly committed to diagnosing and treating Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), one of the most underdiagnosed and undertreated conditions in medicine. A passionate advocate for greater awareness, he often tells audiences, “It is highly likely that you know someone with this condition—undiagnosed and suffering.” Through research, education, and clinical care, he strives to improve the recognition and treatment of hEDS, ensuring patients receive the compassionate support and specialized care they deserve.
