Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Jagdeep S. Sodhi, who serves patients in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Dr. Sodhi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty focus in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is currently serving patients at Scottsdale Hand to Shoulder Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Scottsdale Hand to Shoulder Center specializes in offering the best orthopedic care for patients, which includes the most advanced orthopedic medical treatments and a commitment to compassion and understanding. The Center provides a full range of operative and non-operative treatment for arthritis, fractures, lacerations, and overuse injuries. Its areas of expertise include sports medicine, trauma surgery, microsurgery of nerves and vessels, as well as shoulder, hand & elbow. 

Before establishing his practice at Scottsdale Hand to Shoulder Center, Dr. Sodhi was Managing Partner and Chair of Orthopedic Surgery at a regional referral medical center in Wisconsin. He also served as one of the team physicians for the local professional and high school sports teams, and as a voluntary Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Wisconsin. As an active leader in the medical and local communities, Dr. Sodhi has committed his time and contributed resources and expertise to many local and national charities.

Dr. Sodhi earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign in 2004. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by his fellowship in hand surgery at the Hand Center of San Antonio. 

Dr. Sodhi’s extensive training has allowed him with the fine technical skills to effectively perform hand and limb reconstruction, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder/elbow/wrist, and complex laceration/fracture repair. He understands the complex nature of the human nerve and circulatory system, which allows him to precisely repair limb/tissue damage while preserving the delicate framework of nerves and vessels that nourish and power the healing of the human body.

To Dr. Sodhi, orthopedic surgery is more than just a specialty in medicine – it allows him the opportunity to pursue his talents and serve his passion: “I love tinkering in the garage and working in the operating room. I am fascinated by how things work and move, which inspires my search for better treatments that enhance healing and recovery for my patients. I truly believe that the ultimate privilege is to serve and help people doing what I love.”

Dr. Sodhi is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS). The AAOS is an orthopedic organization. Dr. Sodhi is proud of his military service, earning commendations and awards for his bravery and leadership throughout his 17-year military career. He helped soldiers in missions throughout the world, including Iraq during Desert Storm and Haiti.

Dr. Sodhi is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery that deals with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. An orthopedic surgeon offers care to patients suffering from problems associated with the joints, bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. They perform surgeries to address trauma, injuries, tumors, infections, and other conditions that require surgical intervention. Dr. Sodhi’s expertise includes endoscopic, arthroscopic, and minimally invasive techniques. He loves working with adults and children of all ages.

Dr. Sodhi embarked on a career in medicine to express his passion for helping others. After witnessing his mother’s complete recovery with the help of orthopedic surgeons, he was convinced that specializing in orthopedic surgery was the best way for him to help his patients achieve full health and recovery. In addition to English, Dr. Sodhi speaks Hindi and Punjabi. In his spare time, he enjoys attending sports games and spending quality time with his family.
