After completing his medical degree from Albany Medical College of Union University in New York, Dr. Harry spent 30 years practicing family and sports medicine in southern Vermont. He then went on to spend the next 13 years as Physician Director of Professional and Residential Programs at the world-famous Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, where he worked with thousands of patients in treatment, ranging from celebrities and CEOs to stay-at-home moms and older adults.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM), he is a board-certified physician in both addiction and family medicine and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the California Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
A well-known figure in his field, Dr. Harry is the author of two books, Not as Prescribed: Recognizing and Facing Alcohol and Drug Misuse in Older Adults, and Being Sober: Getting to, Getting through, and Living in Recovery, and co-author of Hijacking the Brain.
To boot, he has created “Recovery 101,” a series of recorded lectures on the topics of addiction medicine, recovery issues, communication skills, spirituality, and relapse prevention, which has been used throughout the country by treatment facilities, family-care programs, and medical schools to educate new doctors.
