Back in the early days of his academic career, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine in Iraq in 1992. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Ascension Providence Hospital in 2000. Finally, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Oakland University in 2016.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
