Get to know Neurologist Dr. Dong Wang, who serves patients in Georgia.

Dr. Wang is a practicing neurologist with expertise in Epilepsy,  Stroke, Headache, Dementia , Movement disorder, Peripheral Neuropathy ,Vertigo , Dizziness and Gait imbalance. He sees patients at Neurology Specialists of GA in Duluth   and Riverdale, Georgia. 

Never using a one-size-fits-all approach, he is dedicated to improving and maintaining patients’ health through preventative care and treatment of acute and chronic illness. He offers a broad array of services geared to address today’s most common neurological illnesses and injuries.

Following the completion of his medical degree from Shandong Medical University in China in 1989, Dr. Wang served as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Medicine at the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from 1994 until 1996. He relocated to the United States to complete his postdoctoral training which included: a postdoctoral research fellowship within the Department of Neurology at Columbia University (1996 – 1998) and positions as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and Research Scientist within the said establishment (1998 – 2000 ; 2000 – 2008). 

Furthering his training, he completed his residency within the Department of Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in 2009. He then completed an additional residency in adult neurology within the Department of Neurology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2012, followed by a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology-EEG/EMG within the Department of Neurology at Hahnemann University Hospital in 2013. 

A member of the American Academy of Neurology, Dr. Wang remains affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in his local area, including Southern Regional Medical Center and Gwinnett Medical Center.

Furthermore, he is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. 

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

In light of his accomplishments, Dr. Wang has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2020), On-Time Doctor Award (2020), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020).
