  • Say "Yes!" to Saying "No!"

One of the most common things I discuss with my patients is stress and being overweight.I implore my patients to try to reduce the number of things they are trying to cram into their days. They are bombarded on all fronts: work, kids, volunteering, church, kids' sports, school PTA, and family...

  • Why isn't my baby teething?

Yes! Tooth eruption in infants is HIGHLY variable. If your baby still has no teeth at 18-24 months, discuss this with your pediatrician or dentist. Great question! READ MORE

  • My son has a vitamin D deficiency. What can I give him?

1000 IU of over the counter vitamin D3 daily IF you live in a low-sunlight northern climate. Have the levels rechecked after 6-12 months. If you live in a sunny area, outdoor play is a great way to get natural vitamin D production in the body. READ MORE

  • Are there any home remedies to treat constipation in kids?

Absolutely! For infants OVER six months a teaspoon of Karo syrup in the bottle or sippy cup can helo. Start just once a day and increase if needed to a maximum of three times a day. School aged kids sometimes like raisins (or Raisinettes can be a sneaky “treat” to help constipation.) Pineapple has digestive enzymes that can promote a bowel movement. Gradually increasing water and fiber together in the diet helps. And very importantly exercise (active play.) Foods that constipate are low fiber “white foods” like rice, bread, crackers, also bananas and applesauce can constipate, so watch those. If the problem is causing several days between BMs or if there are such large BMs they clog the toilet, or there is stool leaking, this is a different issue and should be addressed by your pediatrician. (For example encoporesis.). Great question! READ MORE

  • How should I increase my child's immunity after jaundice?

The good news is neonatal jaundice does not “cause” problems with immunity overall. There are a variety of reasons an infant may have jaundice, and without discussing your case, I would not be able to take a guess. However, if your school age child gets sick a lot now, discuss with your pediatrician whether immunology testing or referral to an allergy/immunology specialist would be right for your child. Great question! READ MORE

Internal Medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Internists are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes. They care for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in education and research.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 18. A paediatrician is a children’s physician who provides medical care to children who are acutely or chronically ill, as well as preventive health services to healthy children. They manage the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the children under their care at every stage of development, in both sickness and health.

She plans to further the field of pediatric internal medicine through her current practice and her ability to stay current in the field.
