Dr. Calhoun Brings Decades of Expertise to Enhance Cardiovascular Care in the Community

With a rich background in cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Calhoun brings over three decades of experience to South Shore Cardiology in Massachusetts, enhancing the quality of care provided to patients at South Shore Hospital.

Academically, his journey in medicine began when he graduated from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in 1983. His passion for patient care and dedication to the field led him to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in 1986, followed by a Fellowship in Cardiology in 1988. 

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Throughout his career, Dr. Calhoun has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in patient care and a deep understanding of cardiovascular diseases. He is an active member of prestigious medical organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, Massachusetts Medical Society, and the American Heart Association.

In addition to his clinical practice, he served as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA from 1996 to 2011.

Awards and accolades have been a testament to Dr. Calhoun’s outstanding contributions to the field of cardiology. He has been consistently recognized by Boston Magazine from 2017 to 2024 and Cape Cod Magazine from 2015 to 2017 for his exemplary patient care and clinical excellence.
