Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Mark Gazall, who serves patients in Columbus, Ohio.

An excellent vascular surgeon, Dr. Gazall is the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Vascular Institute of Columbus (VIC). He specializes in minimally invasive vascular procedures such as endovascular therapy, balloon angioplasty, atherectomy, laser atherectomy and stent placement. He also has expertise in venous disorders and venous stent placement.

Performing vascular surgery and endovascular intervention since 2000, Dr. Gazall is affiliated with many other medical venues, including Mount Carmel Hospital System. He previously has been on staff at Kettering Medical Center Hospitals, Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center and Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.

A Fellow of the American College of General Surgeons, he holds professional memberships with the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the Edward B. Diethrich Vascular Society.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Gazall attended medical school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine, and his fellowship in vascular surgery at Kettering Medical Center/Grandview Hospital and Arizona Heart Hospital.

Licensed to practice medicine in Ohio and Michigan, the doctor is double board-certified in general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS). The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels.
