Back in 1993, Dr. Zuniga graduated with her medical degree from the Rovira I Virgili University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Spain. After relocating to the United States, she performed her post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at Pinnacle Health systems in Harrisburg, PA and her training in nephrology at Rhode Island Hospital.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine and nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Having been in practice for over two decades, Dr. Zuniga is affiliated with Charlton Memorial Hospital and is the medical director of the ARA-Fall River Kidney Center a provider of in-center and home dialysis. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes.
