He went on to complete a general surgery residency at the Chicago Medical School Hospitals, a fellowship in Trauma /Surgical Critical Care at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, and an additional fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. Additionally, he is considered an expert in Robotic Surgery. 

Dr. Giannotti is board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. 

To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Giannotti remains a professional member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology.
