“My goal is to involve patients in their own care and work in collaboration with social services providers and therapists. Back in 1983, Dr. Sharma graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from G.S.V.M. Medical College,Kanpur in India. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his residency in psychiatry at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minnesota in 2011.

Following his training, he attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Sharma likes to spend time with his family, hike, go to the gym, and work with the Bhutanese community. He speaks multiple languages, including English, Dzongkha, Hindi, and Nepali.
