Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Obioma Onuorah, who serves patients in Kennewick, Washington.

With a focus on kidney disease, Dr. Onuorah is a board-certified and fellowship-trained nephrologist who has over two decades of experience in his field. He tends to patients at Trios Care Center at Southridge in Kennewick, Washington, which is a part of the Trios Health network. 

Trios Health, formerly Kennewick General Hospital, is a multi-faceted healthcare system located in southeastern Washington, primarily serving the Tri-Cities, Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland, and surrounding communities. 

A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Dr. Onuorah relocated to the United States to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Harlem Hospital Center. Wanting to further his training, he completed his fellowship in nephrology at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York. 

Before long, the doctor became board-certified in nephrology, internal medicine, and clinical hypertension by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes.
