Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Bikash Bose, who serves patients in Newark, Delaware.

Dr. Bose is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of disorders affecting the nervous system and the spine. In private practice since 1985, he is the owner of Neurosurgery Consultants, P.A. in Newark, Delaware. His practice remains committed to the comprehensive treatment of all disorders of the spine and nervous system. 

Additionally, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In keeping abreast of the latest developments in his specialty, Dr. Bose remains a member of the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Congress of Neurosurgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Delaware, the North American Spine Society, the South Asian Neurosurgical Society, the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society, the Delaware Neurosurgical Group, the Mid-Atlantic Neurosurgical Society, and many others. He is also a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, and the American Heart Association. 

In 1976, he earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He then went on to complete his internship at Little Company of Mary Hospital, followed by his residency in general surgery at Maimonides Medical Center and his residency in neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University. He also completed his fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, followed by his fellowship in cerebrovascular neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. 

Thereafter, the doctor attained board certification through the American Board of Neurological Surgery, one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Throughout his career, Dr. Bose has presented at national and international conferences. Moreover, he has been published in numerous professional journals, as well as has authored book chapters and book reviews.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, certain types of birth defects, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.
