Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Mir Shuttari, who serves patients in Falmouth, Massachusetts. 

Dr. Shuttari is a highly trained pulmonologist whose clinical interests include lung disorders, critical care, and sleep medicine. He has been affiliated with Falmouth Hospital in Massachusetts since October 1st, 2000.

A part of Cape Cod Healthcare, Falmouth Hospital has 95 medical surgical inpatient beds on four floors, 87 of which are private. It is supported by an excellent medical staff of 54 primary care and pediatric physicians and more than 108 specialists. Above all, the mission of Falmouth Hospital is “to coordinate and deliver the highest quality, accessible health services, which enhance the health of all Cape Cod residents and visitors.”

Graduating with his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in India in 1980, Dr. Shuttari relocated to the United States for his training. He completed his residency at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, followed by his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Missouri.

With over four decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Shuttari is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American College of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Thoracic Society.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.
