Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Carol A. Fujiyoshi, who serves patients in Lihue, Hawaii.
Being a caring and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Fujiyoshi’s philosophy of care is to help her patients obtain a good quality of life both physically and emotionally and to be their advocate in the process. She serves as the Chief of the OB-GYN Clinic at Kauaʻi Medical Clinic in Lihue, Hawaii (which is a part of Hawaii Pacific Health). Her special interests include routine and high-risk obstetrical and gynecological care, adolescent gynecology, infertility, minimally invasive surgery, and pelvic reconstruction.
In her professional experience, Dr. Fujiyoshi is also a board member of Wilcox Medical Center and Malama Pono. She is helping to develop a women’s health clinic for the uninsured and underinsured population of Kaui. She has served as a staff obstetrician and gynecologist as well as Department Chief in Kentucky and Desert Storm, where she earned an Army Commendation Medal and Meritorious Service Medal for her service. She was recognized as the Finest Gynecologist in Franklin County, Tennessee for 2010, the same year she joined Kauaʻi Medical Clinic.
A firm believer in encouraging all of her patients to adopt healthy habits as part of their preventive health care, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
A 1984 graduate of the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine – Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Dr. Fujiyoshi went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu before embarking on her professional journey.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
