Completing his Undergraduate Degree at Murray State University, Dr. Tinsworth went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1970.
In his pursuit of dental excellence, in 1974, Dr. Tinsworth pursued a Post Graduate Orthodontic Certificate from the LSU School of Dentistry. With a commitment to lifelong learning and the enhancement of his skills, he furthered his education in 1994 with a Post Graduate Mini Residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry.
Continuing to expand his knowledge and education in all aspects of dental and orthodontic technology, procedures, and enhanced diagnostics, Dr. Tinsworth has been serving as an Adjunct Professor at LECOM’s School of Dental Medicine since 2018.
Among his professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, the Manatee Dental Society (past president), the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists (past president), and the Florida Association of Orthodontists (past president). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. Orthodontists are responsible for identifying problems with the positioning of a patient’s teeth and with their oral development. They utilize the most advanced procedures and equipment available to ensure that every patient achieves a healthy and beautiful smile.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Tinsworth has made substantial contributions to various charitable and service organizations within Manatee County since his arrival in 1988. Born in Williamsburg, Virginia, Dr. Tinsworth primarily grew up in Murray, a small university town in western Kentucky. His family tree goes back to the mid-1700s, when his ancestors came with Daniel Boone to settle not far from the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
Attributing his success to his wonderful family, he lives in Bradenton with five grown children. Dr. Tinsworth treasures each of his five grandchildren for who they are and the happiness they have. The majority of his free time is spent with family or on the golf course.
Moreover, he takes an active role in supporting his local faith community at Christ Episcopal Church and engages in humanitarian efforts by assisting Our Daily Bread.
His preferred vacation destination is the sunny state of Florida, where Dr. Tinsworth finds solace and enjoyment in the beautiful surroundings.
