Dr. Marano’s acclaimed career in medicine began when he graduated from the University of Connecticut Medical School. Upon earning his Medical Degree, Dr. Marano completed his internship and residency training with Saint Mary’s Hospital, followed by his Gastroenterology fellowship at Waterbury Hospital and the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Dr. Albert R. Marano is a highly respected and experienced physician, having been in practice for over three decades. Dr. Marano is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has dedicated his life to delivering the highest standard of quality and compassionate care to his patients. He provides expert diagnosis and treatment for a wide array of conditions, and performs screenings for cancer of the esophagus, and for colon cancer and polyps. Dr. Marano strives to provide the best care possible to his patients in a comfortable setting. Albert R. Gastroenterology is the study of the normal function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. It involves a detailed understanding of the normal action (physiology) of the gastrointestinal organs including the movement of material through the stomach and intestine (motility), the digestion and absorption of nutrients into the body, removal of waste from the system, and the function of the liver as a digestive organ. It includes common and important conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and pancreatitis. In essence, all normal activity and disease of the digestive organs are part of the study of Gastroenterology.
