Dr. Gayle is a board-certified plastic surgeon who is currently serving patients at his private practice in New York City, New York. In his professional experience, Dr. Gayle holds academic appointments as Director of Plastic Surgery Resident Education and Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He developed and directs the flap anatomy and dissection course for plastic surgery residents, lectures on microsurgery to general and plastic surgery residents, as well as conducts a lecture series on peripheral nerve surgery within the Department of Neurosurgery.

Additionally, he serves as Director of Plastic Surgery and Vice-Chairman of Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center, Attending Surgeon in Plastics at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and Associate Attending Surgeon in the Division of Plastic Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He developed the microsurgery section within the Division of Plastic Surgery, providing plastic surgery consultation for orthopedic trauma service at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He also established the hand clinic at New York Hospital-Queens, where he provides weekly hand clinic coverage.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, the doctor is a member of numerous professional affiliations, including the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, the New York County Medical Society, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, among others. He also serves as Secretary of the New York Academy of Medicine.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Gayle earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from the City College of New York, where he was on the Dean’s List and graduated Cum Laude. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine.

His extensive postdoctoral training included serving as a resident and chief resident in general surgery at Booth Memorial Medical Center. Subsequently, he was a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery at New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center. Thereafter, he completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery in the Microsurgical Replantation Transplantation Department of the Ralph K. Davies Medical Center.

Among his many achievements, Dr. Gayle is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has written numerous journal articles and book chapters, and has made presentations at surgical conferences. He is presently involved in several research projects, including a dimensional assessment of the breast for fabrication of implants, fibrin sealant applications in post-laser resurfacing, as well as modifications in tram flap surgery and the effects on the abdominal wall donor site.
