Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Jabin Krassin, who serves patients in Minnesota.

Dr. Krassin is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in laser vision correction and surgical eye care, having performed thousands of LASIK procedures. He is a partner with Southwest Eye Care in Chaska, Minnesota, where his goal is to ensure that patients receive safe and effective treatment customized to meet their individual needs.

With a strive to help patients see the world better, Dr. Krassin can also be found on staff at Whiting Clinic LASIK + Eye Care in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He joined the clinic in 2014, now working alongside Dr. David Whiting.

Named one of Minnesota’s “Top Doctors” in 2018 and 2019, he is affiliated with several medical centers in the local area, including WestHealth Surgery Center, Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center, Ridgeview Medical Center, and Two Twelve Surgery Center.

At an early age, Dr. Krassin was exposed to eye care when he and his brother would go to their grandfather’s optometry clinic. With the clinic built into his grandparent’s home, he had many opportunities to learn about vision, refraction, and what equipment could be touched and what things could not be touched.

After completing his undergraduate studies, he went to California for medical school, and it was there that he became interested in ophthalmic surgery and found his true passion. Dr. Krassin graduated with his medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2004 and immediately began training in their ophthalmology residency program. He received extensive experience in refractive surgery at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, and graduated from residency ranked 9th in the country for refractive surgery volume as a primary resident surgeon.

In 2008, Dr. Krassin moved back to Minnesota and began working with Allina. Within two years of practicing, he was elected as lead ophthalmologist and then promoted to Medical Director of Refractive and LASIK surgery in 2012. Two years later, in 2014, he joined Whiting Clinic LASIK + Eye Care and then went on to become a partner at Southwest Eye Care in 2017.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, which is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

On a more personal note, Dr. Krassin was born in Minnesota and continues to enjoy all that the Midwest has to offer. He actively supports his local community and volunteers his surgical skills to medical mission projects in developing countries.

“I find the human body fascinating, and the surgeries that involve the eyes are intricate and technically challenging. The reward for both the patient and the physician is giving the patient the best possible care of their eyes.” as stated by the doctor on why he became an ophthalmologist.

Outside of the office, he enjoys summer lake activities, including wakeboarding and boating. During the winter months, he finds time to paint, draw and dabble with new cooking recipes.
