Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Sreekanth Chandrupatla, who serves patients in Crystal River, Florida.

Dr. Chandrupatla, known to most patients simply as ‘Dr. Sree’, practices as a gastroenterologist with Gastroenterology Associates of Citrus County. He operates out of offices in Crystal River and Inverness, Florida. 

With a tenure since 2003, Dr. Chandrupatla holds staff positions at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital (serving as the Program Director of the GI Fellowship since 2022), Bravera Health Seven Rivers, Citrus Endoscopy and Surgery Center, and Suncoast Endoscopy Center, Inverness.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Chandrupatla obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from GMI in Flint, Michigan in 1991. Following this, he pursued a Master of Science Degree in Bioengineering at the University of Michigan in 1993. 

Continuing his educational journey, Dr. Chandrupatla earned a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1997.

For his postgraduate training, he dedicated the years 1997 to 2000 to internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the same institution, extending from 2000 to 2003. 

Providing expert care in digestive and liver diseases, Dr. Chandrupatla is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (AGAF), Dr. Chandrupatla is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), Citrus County Medical Society, the Florida Wellcare Alliance, the Florida Gastroenterology Society, and the Florida Medical Association.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Chandrupatla has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
