Get to know Urologist Dr. Philip Ayvazian, who serves patients in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Fully trained in all aspects of general urology, Dr. Ayvazian specializes in the oncological treatment of kidney, prostate, and bladder cancers. He also specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. At present, he is a part of the team at Worcester Urological Associates in Massachusetts. 

Worcester Urological Associates is one of the largest privately owned urology practices in Central Massachusetts. The highly skilled surgeons and staff are dedicated to assisting each patient with their urological needs. They offer emergency and same day appointments.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Dr. Ayvazian received his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and his Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, after which he completed his residency in urology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

After spending ten years on staff at UMassMemorial Medical Center, where he functioned as Residency Program Director and Head of Renal Transplantation, he joined Worcester Urological Associates in 2005. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, as well as holds staff privileges at UMassMemorial and at St. Vincent Hospital.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology, whose mission is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as to work with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care. 

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Ayvazian enjoys hiking and climbing, spending time with his dogs, volunteering at the local animal shelter, and coaching his son’s baseball and soccer teams.
