Educated in the United States, Dr. Gagne earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 1986, before completing his internship and residency in general surgery at the New York University Medical Center in 1991. He then went on to further his training by completing a fellowship in vascular surgery at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in 1995.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in vascular surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Highly respected within the medical community, he has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a Distinguished Fellow of the Society of Vascular Surgery. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society and is a member of the American Venous Forum. Additionally, he is a section editor of the journal Vascular Disease Management.

Dr. Gagne’s career highlights include his service as a general and vascular surgeon in the United States Navy and being the first surgeon in Connecticut to implant a drug-eluting stent to treat a person with peripheral arterial disease. He has also been the principal investigator in several multi-center clinical trials.

Prior to establishing Vascular Care Connecticut, he worked as the Director of the Vascular Research Laboratory at New York University’s Hospitals Center and was a member of New York University’s Vascular Associates.
