A caring and diligent urologist, Dr. McLenan has been working at Advanced Urology Centers of New York in Freeport, New York since July of 1999. He is dedicated to helping patients receive the treatment they need so that they can enjoy a positive and fulfilling lifestyle. 

A Division of Integrated Medical Professionals, Advanced Urology Centers of New York was formed by community urologists committed to providing the highest level of medical service available. The doctors continue to practice in the neighborhoods they have been serving for years while affording them access to technology and services that are just not available to most medical groups.

With a broad educational background, Dr. McLenan obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of West Indies, Jamaica in 1986. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1993.

Furthering his training, he performed his residencies in surgery and urology with New York University (affiliated hospitals – Bellevue Hospital, Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital, Tisch Hospital, NYU Downstate Hospital, Cabrini Medical Center, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center).

With years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology. The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to insure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. McLenan is an active member of the American Urological Association, the American Medical Association, and the New York Section of the American Urological Association.

His research experience includes: investigating the use of Uroplakin II as a marker for transitional cell carcinoma (1997) & investigating the clinical use of holmium laser in the treatment of urethral strictures (1992). 

Additionally, he has conducted several presentations, including Ferdinand C. Valentine Urology Resident Essay meeting: Clinical experience with MUSE in 100 consecutive men with erectile dysfunction (March 1998) & Ferdinand C. Valentine Urology Resident Essay meeting: Excision and end-to-end anastomosis for bulb membranous urethral stricture < 2cm; Clinical Experience (March 1997), and publications such as “Uroplakin II as a marker of Transition Cell Carcinoma Using RT-PCR” (Accepted for publication, Journal of Urology).

Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system.
